SUDAN SCHOOL CERTIFICATE RESULTS ARE OUT

The national ministry of General Education has announced this afternoon the results of the Sudan School Certificate Examinations for 2011-2012.

Minister Joseph Ukel Abango read the results to the press.

He said that over 16,700 candidates, boys and girls, from 123 secondary schools sat for exams in academic, commercial and technical sections.

Mr Ukel revealed that boys did much better than girls in the Sudan School Certificate examination.

In the academic section, 72 percent of the boys passed compared to 28 percent of girls.

He added that this year’s over all results were better than last year.

Mr Ukel said the overall passing percentage for commercial schools was 66.3 percent and 84 percent for technical schools.

The results show an impressive improvement of 5.8 percent a increase compared with last year’s marks.

The ministry of General Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding with its counterpart in the Sudan for students from South Sudan to continue sitting for Sudan School Certificate examination till 2014.
