A member of Eastern Equatoria State Assembly has shocked the House by resigning from two specialized committees.

Charles Odwar Uketch Wednesday tendered a resignation letter to quit as deputy chairperson of the specialized committee of economics development, finance and public accounts.

He was also a member of education, science and technology committee.

Mr Odwar said he resigned to protest the denial by the state Assembly to accept a motion on the outcries of Lafon people.

He termed his resignation a show of solidarity with his electorate, whom he claims have been forgotten by the state authorities.

Mr Odwar represents Lafon Constituency at the state Legislative Assembly.

Radio Emmanuel is yet to get comments from speaker Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi and the Chief whip of the House on Mr Odowae’s resignation letter.

His resignation could lead other MPs to use a similar formula to draw attention of the state government to the concerns of their constituencies.
