Alcohol is the next enemy South Sudan should fight in order for total freedom and sustainable development to prosper.

Radio Don Bosco held a live show Tuesday to find out why South Sudan is not going ahead.

Most of the callers said alcohol consumption is the greatest challenge the country faces and it hinders most of the developmental activities.

Wol Mayen from Akelkeu in Tonj Town said alcohol brought some bad habits into the community including women beating and killing.

Deng Forgud, from Mapel in Western Bahr el Ghazal, mentioned misunderstanding, prostitution and alcohol as one of the root causes for the increase of violence against women in South Sudan.

Some callers said alcohol is not bad but alcohol consumers seem to be the problem.

Mama Lulu Ayen Parek suggested forming group discussions throughout the country to eliminate all sorts of bad behavior like alcohol and violence against women.

This discussion came after a man killed his uncle’s wife in Tonj South County last week.
