Ugandans in Western Bahr El Ghazal Monday morning demonstrated by the hundreds over the killing of one co-national, blaming the police for not protecting them.

Nyanzi Peter was killed by an unknown gunman at Jou Market on Sunday and was taken to Wau Teaching Hospital by the Police.

Hundreds of peaceful Ugandans were met by the riot police at the hospital for more than three hours.

Albert Dennis Adungo, advisor for the Ugandan Community in Western Bahr El Ghazal, told Voice of Hope that the police did not give a clear explanation to the Ugandan community about Mr Adungo’s death.

He said the Ugandans marched to the hospital in order to retrieve the corpse and make necessary arrangements to transport the deceased to Uganda.

Mr Adungo said the Ugandan community lost several members in Western Bahr El Ghazal and the police seem not to take care of their security.

The Ugandan leader noted that the killings are affecting their businesses in Western Bahr El Ghazal.

Mr Adungo blamed few individuals for spoiling the peaceful relationships Ugandan nationals enjoy with the local communities.

The police at the hospital declined to give any statement to the press and did not allow journalist to take pictures of the gathering.
