CABINET APPROVES 100 NEW HEALTH UNITS

The Council of Ministers in yesterday’s ordinary sitting approved the construction 100 health centres in the ten states of South Sudan.

Government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press after the meeting that the Cabinet approved the project proposed by the Minister for Health Michael Milly Hussein.

He said the Ministries of Health, Finance and Foreign Affairs were given green light to find the 173 million US Dollars needed to build 100 health centres.

Dr Marial said the Council also approved the draft policy for national insurance and establishment of a national health insurance fund presented by the Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, Agnes Lasuba.

He said the Council gave a green light to the Minister of Transport, Agnes Poni Lokudu, to upgrade Juba, Wau and Rumbek airports.

Wau and Rumbek will have asphalted runways.

Vice President Riek Machar Teny chaired the Council of Ministers.
