The Vice Chancellor of Juba University has announced the dissolution of the students union.

This comes amid complains from students who sustained that JUSU, Juba University Students Union, was behind many troubles at the University.

Professor Aggrey Abate told the press Thursday in Juba that the students union was a source of unrest in the university and lost its credibility.

He said investigations carried after the inter-tribal clashes in the University last March concluded that JUSU did not conduct itself well.

Prof Abate revealed that JUSU undermined the authority of the deanship of students and was not transparent in its dealings with the university authorities.

He declared JUSU closed and suspended indefinitely any political activity in the campus.

The order also called on students to stop income generating activities in the University premises, alone or in partnership.

Prof Abate said students suspected of participating in the March turmoil that led to the closure of the University will be subjected to standing rules and regulations.
