The South Sudan Human Rights Commission has been looking into its 2012 work plan which might not deliver much due to the austerity measures in place in the country.

The work plan aims to realise a good society that respects and promotes human rights.

Commissioner Anei Adik Arop told CRN that the three-day workshop that ended today was looking at complaint procedures and the how the commission can implement its work plan for 2012.

He said the commission has a strategic plan and was looking on how it can carry out its activities.

Dr Adik added that the commission aims to see a good and prosperous society that respects and promotes human rights in South Sudan.

He said that can be achieved by a nationwide awareness campaign that targets stakeholders like the police, law makers and traditional chiefs to improve good governance.

Dr Adik fears that the commission will not be able to deliver on its activities due to the austerity measures.

He added that he hoped that donors and development partners will help the commission to achieve some of its goals.
