Radio Emmanuel marks today its third year of service to the people of Torit and Eastern Equatoria.

The radio station of the Catholic Diocese of Tori hit the airwaves on June 19, 2009 with only eight staff.

Director Santino Lounoi says to be on air from three years is a single achievement.

He added that Emmanuel Radio restored full broadcasting capacity with the installation of a new 72-metre mast.

In November 2011, a strong storm knocked down the mast.

Fr Santino paid tribute to Radio Emmanuel staff.

He said they are few but they are very hard working people that keep the station on air with quality programmes.

Fr Santino singled out financial limits and fuel shortages are some of the bottlenecks Radio Emmanuel goes through.

Radio Emmanuel is one of the nine stations established by Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference under the Catholic Radio Network.
