MPs have expressed mixed feelings about the 6.5 billion-Pound budget for 2012-2013.
Awut Deng Acuil told CRN that the budget is supposed to take into consideration the interests of nation’s citizens. She said the services delivery agencies are maintained in this budget and money is directed towards education, health and roads, water and electricity.
Madam Awut added that the money for salaries should be lower than the money for development.
George Bureng said the budget is good and if it is implemented as planned by the finance minister it means that South Sudan is moving in a right direction.
He explained that the main source of livelihood in South Sudan is salaries from the national and states governments because they are the main employer.
Prof Bureng said paying salaries to workers can contribute to development and maintain security, the main factors for economic growth.
He added that that is the reason why salaries and security get most of the budget money.
