Khartoum authorities have occupied at least three Catholic schools and tried to confiscate one church last week.

Church sources told CRN via e-mail that the authorities occupied two schools in Mayo and another in Omdurman.

It was not clear whether the three schools were being used or not.

The authorities announced also the confiscation of a Catholic church but the faithful staged a seat-in at the temple and the police did not turn up.

Our sources said the education authorities are lacking space to accommodate the students and resorted to occupying Catholic schools that were used by students from South Sudan.

The school year is about to start in the Sudan.

The Catholic authorities are trying to recover the occupied schools through the courts.
