One hundred and twenty four South Sudanese returnees have arrived today in Juba from Israel under a voluntary repatriation programme set up by the Israeli authorities.

National Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management Joseph Lual Acuil welcomed the returnees at Juba International Airport.

He said 700 South Sudanese are waiting to return voluntarily from Israel.

The flights, paid by the Government of Israel, take place on Sunday night.

Mr Lual said the returnees are going to stay at Kapuri way station outside Juba where returnees from Khartoum were received before going to their original places.

He added that the Government is preparing a package and places for resettling the returnees after a short stay at Kapuri.

Minister Lual and other South Sudanese top government officials received the first batch of returnees from Israel at Juba International Airport and accompanied them to Kapuri way station.
