A group of 20 returnee and dropout women from Western Bahr Ghazal State graduated in tailoring on Friday.
The graduates concluded a six-month training course in tailoring and sociology sessions organized by Wau Women Development Group.The women also learned how to manage projects and share what they learned with other women.
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) representative James Simon, who was the assistant project manager, congratulated the graduates for their achievement.
He encouraged them to share the skills attained.
Mr Simon praised the ladies for their commitment and perseverance despite difficulties.
He congratulated the graduates for the beautiful uniform they designed and made.
Mr Simon noted that ten women dropped out of the course along the training period.
Rafa Ellis Banda, who chairs Women Development Group, said that they have the duty to help in capacity building for the returnees in Western Bahr el Ghazal State.
She added that women are empowered with different skills which can help them carry out various economic and social activities.
The tailoring course was done by JICA in collaboration with Western Bahr El Ghazal state Ministry of Labour.
