Catholic Archbishop of Juba today opened officially St Lawrence Minor Seminary in Rajaf.
Samuel Abe, the rector of the seminary, said the institution was operating in the premises of St Paul Major Seminary in Munuki.He explained that as the theology seminarians are coming from Khartoum to Juba, the minor seminary had to relocate in order to leave room for them.
Fr Abe said minor seminarians were studying at various secondary schools but as young boys prepared to become priests they need a special place.
He explained that St Lawrence Minor Seminary can receive up to 24 seminarians.
Archbishop Paulino Lokudu Loro said the joy of opening St Lawrence Minor Seminary was to make sure seminarians were accommodated.
He said the seminary is the heart of the bishop, priests and every faithful because it prepares those who distribute the body and blood of Christ.
Archbishop Lokudu said St Lawrence Minor Seminary will continue to develop slowly.
He confirmed that philosophy and theology seminaries are now in place in Munuki after the seminarians were transferred from Khartoum.
