The Catholic diocese of Tombura-Yambio wants to upgrade its health services by opening a new maternity by next year.
Diocesan health manager Nicholas Womoapoi Baabe told Anisa Radio that the Church owns four primary health care units: St Bakhita and Bishop Duatuka, in Tombura; St Mary, in Lirungo, and Maringindo. He said the diocese wants to upgrade its health services by building a Maternity in Tombura parish with the support of CORDAID.
The construction has already started and the facility should open its doors next year.
Dr Baabe praised CORDAID charity, the diocesan strongest partner, for supporting most of its primary health care activities technically and financially since 2010.
