The Minister of Information and Broadcasting said South Sudan Government will have its modern printing press operating √É’soon’.
Barnaba Marial Benjamin made the announcement while opening a one-day media seminar organised by JICA, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency, to the South Sudan Radio and Television staff.He said South Sudan websites can end with dot SS, the domain of the new republic.
JICA Chief Representative in South Sudan, Atsushi Hanatani, said the Japanese agency is starting a technical assistance programme to both South Sudan Radio and Television to strengthen their operating capacities.
He said some JICA d activities will also benefit independent media houses.
Mr Hanatani said the seminar aimed to help the participants acquire better understanding of the role and function of the public broadcasting corporation and discuss how radio and TV should be.
The one-day media seminar drew together over 50 participants from South Sudan Radio and Television and independent media houses in Juba.
