Members of the National Legislative Assembly yesterday passed a resolution suspending the 75 recipients of President Salva Kiir’s letter asking them to return over four billion US Dollars missing from Government coffers.

The suspension lasts until the MPs are found guilt or acquitted.

Some members of the executive who were in the House opposed the suspension saying the President should handle the issue with the Ministry of Justice and the Anti-Corruption Commission.

MPs called on the top officials who received the letter to resign immediately, including SPLA top ranks.

MP Bashir Bandi said the recipients of President Kiir’s letter should be arrested immediately.

Some MPs demanded that the 75 names should be made public.

Former ministers Rose Awut Deng and Lual Achuek told the House they received President Kiir’s letter and protested their innocence.

Ms Awut said she will publish her accounts to clear her name.

During the debate, national Higher Education Minister Peter Adwok was evicted from the House after refusing to withdraw a word he used while commenting on the President’s letter.
