Schools, hospital and other socials services that the Church offers to the community should manifest the presence of God working among his people.
Catholic Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek of Torit made this observation during a visit to St Mathew’s Secondary School in Ikwoto Parish, Radio Emmanuel reported.He told teachers and students that Catholic schools are not ordinary places but pupils should associate their studies and life with God.
Bishop Akio said the children in Catholic Schools need to be guided by both the teachers and the parish to be responsible future leaders and good parishioners.
He added that Catholic parishes have hospitals to witness to Christ the healer and Christians should visit the patients to console them.
Bishop Akio said the Church opened schools and health facilities to witness to the ministries of Christ the Healer and the Teacher.
He added that during the war schools and hospitals made many people feel the presence of the Church.
Bishop Akio observed that Catholic schools should be the centre for vocations to follow Christ through good morals and discipline and not for strikes and early pregnancies.
He told teachers that the future of South Sudan lies in their ability to make good citizens from the students they teach.
