A candidate from Upper Nile was yesterday elected to lead the SPLM-Students’ League in the University of Bahr El Ghazal.
Jang Kuajien Tut won the election disputed by five candidates, Voice of Hope reported.Almost 1,000 students turned up to vote.
Mr Kuajien thanked all who participated in the voting.
He promised to work hand and in hand with the administration in order to bring development to the university.
He added that by 2013 the University should have its own Students’ Union.
Martine Majut Yak, SPLM National Secretary for Popular Syndicated Organization, said that the elected chairman is ready to work with the new political secretary.
He encouraged the students to always support their leaders so that their views can have weight and be considered in Juba.
Mr Majut said availability and discipline are paramount in all undertakings especially in leadership.
He noted that the outgoing leaders did not present their written financial report which is vital for transparency.
Mr Majut urged the newly elected SPLM leadership to draw up their work plan.
He reminded them of the importance of accountability.
Aliel Wal, the outgoing chairman, held the post for three years though the normal term of office is one year.
