CRS, the Catholic Relief Service, is still operating in Ikwoto, Eastern Equatoria, despite closing its offices in the County and handing over the compound and some facilities to the Catholic Diocese of Torit.
Area coordinator Leek Philip Thon said CRS did not abandon Ikwoto but it is sill implementing food security thematic projects in Imotong Payam, paid by the European Union.Mr Thon was clarifying worries among the people in Ikwoto that CRS was leaving the county.
He explained that the transfer of CRS offices from Ikwoto to Torit was administrative due to the central location since the Catholic Charity of the US bishops implements projects in three counties in Eastern Equatoria.
CRS last week handed over its Ikwoto compound and some facilities to the Catholic Diocese of Torit.
Mr Thon told Radio Emmanuel that the compound has 15 residential rooms, offices and other facilities that now belong to the diocese.
Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek of Torit, who received the facility, commended CRS saying the compound is one of the places the diocese offered to partners during the war.
