Heavy rains and poor roads are hindering the mobilization of resources for South Sudan’s army in Eastern Equatoria.
Eastern Equatoria State Speaker Emmanuel Ambrose Ocholimoi, who chairs the state mobilization committee, said many people could not be reached due to poor roads, Radio Emmanuel reported.The speaker revealed that a large number of cattle that were contributed to the army died on the way to Torit as poor roads could not allow movement of lorries into the rural areas.
Mr Ocholimoi appreciated the response and willingness of the people of Eastern Equatoria towards the army.
Deputy speaker Paul Napwon said some individuals did not welcome the idea of contributing resources to support the soldiers.
The officials called for a second phase of the exercise to allow people who could not be reached during the rainy season to make their contributions.
Greater Kapoeta donated more than 390 thousand Pounds, 290 cattle and other items to the army to support the soldiers at the frontline.
