The Police Commissioner in Northern Bahr al Ghazal state said they are working to recover hundreds of heads of cattle stolen from members of the Rezeigat Arab community.
Akot Deng Akot told Radio Nhomlaau that the police have detained some suspected culprits who are armed members of a local tribe instructed by elders to protect the local community, and that the local authorities have recovered 200 cattle so far.

Mr Akoy added that police have been deployed throughout the state to prevent local tribesmen from stealing cattle from Rezeigat and Misseriya nomads. He warned that they’ll be held accountable.

Three months ago the Dinka communities in Northern Bahr al Ghazal agreed to allow the Rezeigat and Misseriya communities to water and graze animals on their land during the dry season.
