Wau County Commissioner John Peter Miskin reminded the participants that the reintegration of former soldiers into civilian life is a complex process.

He asked the officials involved in DDR’s phase two to learn their skills well in order to touch the hearts of ex-combatants and reintroduce them into the community.

The Western Bahr El Ghazal DDR Commission organized the workshop that was attended by civil society, national and international organizations and media houses.

The second phase of the DDR programme targets 150,000 combatants: 80,000 soldiers from Sudan and South Sudan’s armies and 70,000 from the organized forces including police, prison, wildlife and fire brigade.
