Eleven education logisticians are learning how to handle education and school materials in Yambio.
The three-day workshop that kicked off on Monday is organized by Family Health International (FHI) in collaboration with UNDP that assists with the technical expertise, Anisa FM reported. The event aims to empower logisticians and storekeepers at the state ministry of education headquarter plus one representative from each county education department, to control the reception and management of the school materials.
Remidios Otira, who works for FHI, explained that the main reason for organizing the workshop was that in many school materials are mishandled and some are rotting in the stores or around the corners in the premises.
He said some materials are even flowing illegally into the market to be sold to the pupils.
School materials are supposed to be distributed for free by the ministry of education.
Mr Otira called upon the public to watch out for school materials in the market and alert the education ministry to discourage those malpractices.
