The Government of South Sudan showed its happiness for being admitted as a full member to the IMF, the International Monetary Fund, and to the World Bank on Wednesday.

Finance Minister and Economic Planning Kosti Manibe Ngai signed the IMF and World Bank Articles of Agreement last Wednesday in Washington-DC, US.

He said it was a great pleasure that the Republic of South Sudan became a member of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, the ministry said today in a press release.

He added that the mandate, values and vision of these two organizations closely match the development ambitions of the people and the Government of South Sudan.

IMF Chief Christine Lagarde said South Sudan faces enormous challenges, and the IMF will do its best to assist the country in setting up the foundations for economic stability and growth.
