A Catholic Girls’ Secondary School in Lakes State has produced the best girl performance in the South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education 2011 Examinations.

The results were released on Thursday by the Undersecretary in the Ministry of General Education and Instruction, Deng Deng Hoc Yai.

The Principal of Loreto Girls’ Secondary School Orla Treacy told Good News Radio on Saturday that the announcement that her school had produced the best girl and the second best student in the national exams is a source of delight for the institution.

She expressed her appreciation to student Victoria Aledi Akech, her colleagues and the teachers of these pioneer students.

Sr Orla revealed that the school registered eight candidates for the exams.

Victoria Aledi Akech said she could not believe her ears when she first heard she was the best female and the second best student in the national exams.

She added that the disbelief was replaced by such sheer happiness that she almost lost her voice shouting with her colleagues to celebrate the good news.

Victoria said she was afraid before the exams and attributed her success to prayer, hard work and words of encouragement from fellow students, teachers and people outside her school.

Victoria scored A minus with a mean score of 10.83, taking the second place nationally.

The top student was Kon Emmanuel Chol from St. Bakhita Secondary School who also scored A minus with a mean score of 11 points.

Loreto School wasÊ seven among the 27 schools that registered for the South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education 2011 Examination.
