The Vice President of the Republic has urged political parties to unite behind the president and the army who are protecting the country’s borders.
Riak Machar told a well attended rally to mobilize material and human resources at the Freedom Square in Rumbek on Thursday that SPLA forces have repulsed SAF attacks in all the disputed border areas, Good News Radio reported.He said the defence of South Sudan’s territory requires unity among South Sudanese, calling on all political parties to shelve their differences and stand with President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the army.
Dr Machar added that South Sudan does not want war, clarifying that the country is only interested in reclaiming her borders of 1956.
The Vice President urged Lakes State residents to contribute with all they could to support the army: bulls, groundnuts… Even willow nuts are good for the forces holding Panthou to execute their duties effectively.
Lakes State Governor Chol Tong Mayay contributed ten bags of groundnuts and pledged to donate his April’s salary to the army.
