The policy of the Government of South Sudan is to resolve the underlying border issues through peaceful means of dialogue and negotiation.

Angelina Teny, the wife of Vice President Riek Machar Teny, told the crowds on Thursday during the official launch of Lakes State’s mobilization campaign in Rumbek that Sudan has been occupying parts of South Sudan and it wanted to expand southwards.

She said South Sudan Army is just defending the country and that the Government has no ambition to occupy territory of another nation.

Mama Angelina said the people of South Sudan should prepare for a long struggle, since the President of Sudan has threatened to occupy Juba.

She urged Lakes State’s women not to neglect the important role they played during the long struggle for independence.

Mama Angelina added that the armed forces need the support from everyone to enable them to protect and defend the country’s hard earned territorial integrity.

Mary Aluk, a Rumbek resident who was at the mobilization launch, told Good News Radio that it was important to mobilize resources for the soldiers to be able to defend the territory.

She said women are ready to offer their support, including letting their children join the armed forces.

Over 100 young people volunteered to join the Army during the resource mobilization and sensitization launch.
