SPLM and SPLA leaders were together in Tonj Thursday to mobilize the youth of Tonj South County to voluntarily join the army to defend the country.

Gabriel Majok Manyual, Tonj South County SPLM Youth League chairperson, told Don Bosco FM Thursday evening that youths were ready to support the army with any means to protect the country from external threats like that of Panthou.

He explained that the recruitment process taking place in the area was not by force but free; however, each youth should serve the nation.

Mr Majok said that the recruitment meant a lot for the youth people: it was a privilege given by the president of the Republic to the youth to join the army.

He told the youth not to fear to join the army but be proud to serve the nation as first class citizens of their own country.

Captain Mayen Bol Anei from the General Headquarters and in charge of youth mobilization for conscription said the recruits will be taken care of in a good and organized way.

He urged youths from cattle camps to hold guns only for external conflicts and not for tribal fights, cattle rustling and girls’ issues.

Captain Bol told the youth to take the lead and register quickly.

The recruitment is for both young men and women capable of being soldiers.
