Yambio Catholic leaders are lamenting that parts of the church land were annexed by the local communities in Naagori.
The so called Comboni land is at the centre of a lengthy dispute between local communities and the Catholic Church about the size of the plot marked in 1983.Fr. John Gbemboyo, the headmaster of Bishop Abangite College of Science and Technology, told Anisa FM that a group of surveyors, one policeman and some people wanted to demarcate part of the church land in Naagori without knowledge of the Catholic leadership.
He explained that the officials came with documents from the County Land Commission allowing them to demarcate a plot to one advisor in the Government of Western Equatoria.
The documents mentioned that the church land plot measured 400 for 400 meters.
The Church claims that the original plot measure 400 for 600 meters.
Fr Gbemboyo described the act as a confiscation of church land by force.
He accused the civil authorities involved in the demarcation of corruption.
The Comboni area accommodates three institutions: one secondary school, the Solidarity with South Sudan Teachers’ Training College and the minor seminary.
The church plans to open a vocational training centre in the plot.
Naagori has become a parish recently and it needs land for building its church.
