Western Equatoria residents yesterday conducted a peaceful demonstration in Yambio to call the attention of the international community for the aggressions of Sudan against South Sudan.

The demonstration started at the SPLM Secretariat headquarters and passed in front of UNMISS compound.

Hundreds of protesters were shouting that the people of south Sudan shall never surrender, Anisa FM reported.

The demonstration ended at the State Secretariat where government officials, Church leaders and a crowd of citizens stood up to hear Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro.

He told the international community that it kept quiet while Sudanese forces attacked Abyei and other parts of South Sudan.

He said now that South Sudan is defending its territory, the international community rises in condemnation.

Governor Bakosoro added that South Sudan, including Western Equatoria, is ready to defend its territory from any outside aggression.

Benjamin Martin, who chairs the civil society in the state, condemned Sudan’s government for claiming the land of the Republic of South Sudan and calling South Sudan its enemy.

A team from Western Equatoria State will carry food items to the soldiers who are currently defending South Sudan boarder in Bentiu, Unity State.
