Constructors bidding for contracts with the national Ministry of Road and Bridges need to understand the terms of the contacts and the labour laws of South Sudan, and to have the means to fulfil the contracts they sign within the time agreed.

With this in view, the ministry organized a three-day workshop in partnership with Tumu Consulting Engineers Limited under the theme “Effective contract execution for better results” that aims to equip contractors with the tools which guarantee that the projects are completed in time.

Executive director Johnson Tumusiime told CRN that the organizers want to ensure that the companies who win contracts of roads understand how to execute them on time respecting the what is written in the agreements.

He added that international bidders need to know the labour laws of South Sudan.

Deputy Minister for Roads and Bridges Simon Majok Majak said the workshop aimed at raising awareness among contractors.

He said that there are companies registered in the Ministry of Justice that do not have any means to fulfil the contracts they sign with the aim to cheat the government.

Mr Majok clarified that gravel roads and maintenance contracts are only for South Sudanese companies.

The deputy minister said consultants should verify how constructors carry out their works and function as the third party between the ministry and contractors.
