CENTRAL EQUATORIA ADMINISTRATOR SUSPENDED OVER ASSAULT

A local government administrator from Juba County was suspended in Morobo, Central Equatoria, following an assault on a US medical team.

Morobo Country Commissioner Ofeni Ngota issued a suspension letter today to Jackson Baker Mawa Elia over an assault case against the medical team who come from US to Morobo County to for a week of free surgeries.

Morobo Country Press Secretary Data Moses told CRN via e-mail that Mr Baker is a resident of Morobo County and was recruited and trained as local government administrative cadre last year in Yei County.

He was arrested last Monday at Morobo County Police Station but he was not yet taken to the court.

A police officer said Mr Baker’s detention is illegal but the County magistrate who is supposed to handle the case is away.
