The Government announced yesterday that the new salary structure approved for the organized forces will not be affected by the austerity measures to counter the financial effects caused by capping of oil production in South Sudan.
Barnaba Marial Benjamin, the government’s spokesperson, told the media that the Council of Ministers approved the austerity measures and referred them to an economic cluster for fine tuning.He said the salaries of the organized forces will not be affected and security, food security, health, education and infrastructure are priority areas.
Dr Marial added that the South Sudanese Pound will not be devaluated by the austerity measures and the Government will not print new money to control inflation.
The Cabinet approved the establishment of the South Sudan Police College, in Rejaf West, Juba, and the establishment of a committee to prepare the National Science and Technology Policies to develop technical education in South Sudan.
