The Cabinet gave the green light to feasibility studies and master plans for the construction of a new international airport and nine state airports in South Sudan.

Government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press after yesterday’s Cabinet meeting in Juba that transport minister Agnes Poni Lokudu proposed the construction of nine state airports in South Sudan.

He added that a new international airport will be in Tali to serve Ramciel, the new capital of South Sudan.

Dr Marial added that the Cabinet decided that works at Juba International Airport should conclude immediately to increase movements at the national hub.

He said the Cabinet also approved studies towards the establishment of a national carrier called South Sudan Airlines.
