South Sudanese Christians have been called to deepen their faith and engage in reconciliation trends.
Last month, a team from South Sudan attended a leadership training organised by the Great Lakes Initiative in Kampala, Uganda, under the theme Christian Leadership for Reconciliation in Times of Turbulence.Martin Vuni, who headed the delegation from South Sudan, told CRN that during the training in Kampala, the participants were tasked with carrying out a forum to share their experiences with fellow Christians in South Sudan.
He said the participants met today at the Sudan Council of Churches to reflect and deepen their understanding together with their friends, and to learn Christian reconciliation approaches to help them to focus on Christian reconciliation in South Sudan.
Fr Vuni added that the whole principle is about reversing the trend of hopelessness, destruction and killing, poverty and corruption that gave South Sudan a bad image.
He said this trend can be reversed through Christian principles and using the right methodology that will transform South Sudan into a society of hope, led by the spirit of God because the majority of the population is Christian.
The session was co-chaired by ECS bishop Bismarck Avokayo and Fr. Martin Vuni from the Catholic diocese of Torit.
