Parents residing at Yei River County were asked to send their children to school as the new academic year kicks off.
Yei River County Senior Inspector of Basic Education Martin Woja Bala urged parents and caretakers to ensure that their children go to school. The new school year has already started with massive registration of pupils across the primary schools in the county.
Mr Woja told Radio Easter that parents and teachers in rural areas do not follow the school calendar and some pupils report late to school.
He said the parents need to sensitize their children about the importance of education and give them all the basic requirements that include exercise books, pens and uniforms so that the learning process is not disrupted.
Mr Woja added that the County Education Department has prepared a comprehensive education calendar to be circulated in all the primary schools to help teachers to cover the whole syllabus.
He appealed to parents to support the government in raising development funds to help implementing some projects like classroom blocks to avoid the interruption of school when rain come.
