Health authorities in Yei say last year vaccination campaigns were a success story with many more children immunized against a number of killer diseases.
Yei River County supervisor of Expanded Program on Immunization, Gulliver Wani, said today that last year the number of vaccinated children was well beyond target. He said they targeted over 46,200 children below five years of age and 58,000 were vaccinated.
Mr Wani said the 117 percent increase is due to returnees and refugees who flocked to Yei after the 2008 census.
The vaccinations supervisor added that this is the result of the polio campaigns and the national immunization day in Yei County which ended on 21 December.
