Heiban County SPLM-North Political Chairman Younan Albarut said two planes chartered by the International Red Cross transported the 29 Chinese nationals from Kauda airstrip to Nairobi-Kenya, yesterday evening.

He added that the SPLM-North and the Chinese ambassador in Kenya coordinated the release of all the Chinese workers.

The international community put pressure on the Sudanese government to allow the humanitarian flight to the SPLM-North controlled areas in Nuba Mountains in order to release the Chinese nationals.

Mr Younan said the SPLA-North did not mean to kidnap the Chinese workers but to take them to a safe place after a shootout broke out with Sudanese troops.

He added that there were two women among the Chinese workers.

Mr Younan explained that the incident created a good relationship between the SPLM-North and the Chinese government.

The SPLM Chairman said the 29 Chinese workers were in good health when they left Kauda.
