SOUTH SUDAN PREPARES HEALTH INSURANCE POLICY SCHEME

The Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfares has organised a three-day training to formulate the basis for the national health insurance policy law.

Mayen Mading, an expert on health insurance, told CRN this morning in Juba that the government wanted to extend health insurance services to the whole country.

He said health coverage is bellow expectations in South Sudan and in order to improve health services government and private citizens have to share the bill together.

Dr Mayen said the training aims to find a formula for health insurance to be presented to the authorities to prepare the National Insurance Scheme Bill.

He added that the ministry is planning a health awareness mass campaign with the assistance of media outlets.

The training was organised by the ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare to establish a health insurance scheme in the republic of South Sudan. Workers before were covered by Sudan’s scheme.
