The government of the Republic of South Sudan has sign a Memorandum of Understand with the Republic of India in Juba to start a Pan African E-Network in South Sudan.
The Deputy minister of Telecommunication and Postal Services, Beatrice Khamisa Wani, signed the memo on behalf of the Government of South Sudan and the Indian Ambassador of India in South Sudan represented the Pan African E-Network, Bakhita Radio reported.Ms Khamisa explained that other African countries are already part of the E-Network.
She added that the network provides connectivity to VIPs, and can be used for tele-education and tele-medicine.
The Indian Ambassador to South Sudan Parimel Kar said India has set up the solar electrification in Gudele site and plans to build rural technological and vocational training centres.
He added that the Pan African E-Network represents one of the best means of cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Kar said India will provide capacity building for South Sudan to be able to integrate the Pan African E-Network project.
Twelve African countries are already implementing the programme.
The basic objective of the Pan-African e-Network project is to assist Africa in capacity building through quality education to 10,000 students in Africa over a five-year period in various disciplines from some of the best Indian universities and education institutions.
