The Anti-corruption Commission is calling on members of parliament to submit their assets and liabilities forms to declare their personal wealth and combat fraud.
The chairperson of the Committee of Members’ Affairs at the National Assembly, Mark Nyipouch Obang, told CRN News that the forms were distributed almost two weeks ago and many MPs are still filling in the questionnaire.Mr Nyipouch added that a number of MPs have submitted their declarations.
He mentioned that the MPs are bound to meet to the requirement since they were the ones who passed the Constitution which obliges them to declare their personal wealth.
Mr Nyipouch said the assets and liability declaration is a step forward to fight graft in South Sudan.
The call comes weeks after President Salva Kiir Mayardit and members of his cabinet handed in their declarations to the anti-corruption commission.
