Eastern Equatoria authorities are re-deploying police officers at random to ensure that they are not posted to their counties of origin.
Governor Louis Lobong Lojore made the announcement yesterday during the assignment of 593 officers who did refresher training at Himodonge Police centre. The governor said the state is compelled to redeploy the police following loopholes in previous exercises where officers sent to their home areas deserted the force to join cattle raiders and participate in criminal activities instead of defending the law.
Mr Lobong assured the police officers that the national government was reviewing the salary structures to improving their pay.
He warned that absent officers would have their payments deducted.
The governor said the trained police officers were meant to implement the state strategic plan to ensure peace, respect for human rights and the rule of law in the state.
Four police officers were recommended for excellent performance during the six-week training.
