The feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple of Jerusalem celebrated yesterday points to the fact that all Christians belong entirely to the Lord.

The Diocesan Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek, Fernando Colombo, made this statement yesterday at Holy Family Cathedral during the Eucharistic celebration to mark the feast of the Presentation of the Lord.

He explained that the presentation of Jesus to the temple and his dedication to the Father has a twofold meaning: it shows that all followers of Jesus Christ belong to the Lord, and Christians are the light of the world.

The presentation of the Lord is also the World Day of Consecrated Life.

Fr Colombo acknowledged the sacrifices of those living consecrated life, remarking that in many contexts in Africa, consecrated people are looked at more with compassion than with appreciation because they do not have children.

He said consecrated life points to eternal life, and it is a gift from God that is received through a particular relationship with Jesus Christ.

Fr Colombo encouraged Christians to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ through whom they can be light to the world.

Members from six different religious congregations attended the Eucharistic celebration that started with a candle procession.
