A fight between bodyguards of two county commissioners left a number of people dead in Unity State during a peace conference to settle cattle raiding issues.
A local source wrote to CRN News saying that on Wednesday the commissioners of East Tonj, Warrap State, and Mayiendit, Unity State, met in Mayiendit to settle down issues related with cattle raids between the two communities.For unknown reasons, the bodyguards from both commissioners started shooting at each other and at least 32 people were killed and another 20 injured.
Police and army forces were also involved in the shootout.
Our source said Mayaiandit is calm after the state authorities deployed soldiers from Bentiu and ordered the organized forces involved in the clashes back to their barracks.
