Yirol West County needs more health workers to take care of a big population that remains isolated during much of the year due to bad roads.

The appeal comes from Fabio Friz, a medic working for the African Doctors Organization in Yirol Hospital. He told Good News Radio that the county does not have enough qualified health workers.

Dr. Friz said a recently established unit in Anuol Payam has only one health staff to cater for 18,000 residents who remain isolated due to bad roads.

James Majak Malek, medical unit supervisor in Yirol West County, suggested to the Government to upgrade the facility at Anuol Payam to a Primary Community Health Centre to stop the agony of travelling the long distance to Yirol for medical services.

Anuol Payam Administrator Malou Mou Ayom complained that his place is among the most isolated areas in the county.

He urged the Government of South Sudan to build a road to from Yirol to Anuol to ease coordination between the County Headquarters and the Payam.

Anuol is one of the seven Payams in Yirol West County.
