The South Sudan Aids Commission coordinator for Yei River County today appealed to the concerned prison authorities to give equal rights for treatment to inmates living with the HIV like any other person.

Chris Issa Gordon said in Yei prisons some inmates are not allowed to receive HIV treatment due to the crimes they committed.

He added that all inmates have the same right to access HIV treatment no mater they crimes.

Mr Issa said it is a universal right to access treatment while in prison.

He added that next year his office will discuss with the prison authorities in Yei to establish an ART centre at the facility or allow prisoners living with the virus to be treated at ART centres in town.

Mr Issa made these remarks this morning when he was evaluating this year’s achievements.
