USAID in South Sudan is using music and hip hop as a means to build stronger people-to-people connections and engage young people in South Sudan.
The US embassy in Juba sponsored the hip-hop band Legacy from New York City to give free concerts and hold workshops for aspiring musicians.
Talking to CRN news Pheadra Gwynn, USAID Public Information Officer, said music helps the youth express themselves politically and emotionally. She commended the Legacy Band, which allows local musicians build their skills.
The hip hop Band is one of the many activities the USAID engaged in with the youth to promote unity.
A couple of months ago, NBA legends were sponsored to come and train basket ball players in Juba.
