ETHIOPIAN MINISTER OF HEALTH IN JUBA
During his stay Dr. Tewodros Adhanom held several meetings with health officials in Juba, highlighting the need for improved and qualified human resources.
With one of the highest rates of maternal mortality in the world, South Sudan’s health system is still struggling due to lack of qualified health workers, equipment and sufficient funding.
The Minister of Health in South Sudan, Michael Milly Hussein, said challenges in the health system are still huge and that health institutions are too congested. He added that the government plans to build more health centres to de-congest the major hospitals.
Both ministers were speaking at Juba Teaching Hospital on December 16 2011, the Ethiopian delegation toured to find out areas where their government could be of assistance.
