The High Committee for Constitution amendment in Western Bahr el-Ghazal state handed over the new State Transitional Constitution draft to the Legislative Assembly yesterday morning.
The new supreme law consists of thirteen parts, 155 articles and five schedules dealing with national and state powers, Radio Voice of Hope reported.John Peter Miskin, Western Bahr el-Ghazal State Minister for Legal Affairs and chairman of the committee, addressed the legislatures and apologized for the delay.
He presented the most important articles added by the committee.
Mr. Miskin explained that the committee removed all articles referring to the CPA and referendum, some articles were amended and others added.
Concerning the new articles, the Minister mentioned the article 50, which gives the state government the right to choose the capital of the state.
Mr. Miskin also said changes have been made to article 99, which allows the state governor to remove commissioners in case of threaten to security.
Members of the House expressed concern over the new articles saying some of them need to be studied by the specialized committee.
Speaker Andrea Mayar gave the drafted Constitution to the committee to study and prepare a final report to be presented to the House.
