Eastern Equatoria Governor has appointed a six-member peace and reconciliation team for Greater Kapoeta counties.
Louis Lobong Lojore named Paul Langa Respicio as the chairperson of the committee and Martin Lopir Lotubae his deputy, Radio Emmanuel reported.The committee is to assist the commissioners of Greater Kapoeta counties to return stolen livestock and build peace and reconciliation among the communities with their neighbours within and outside South Sudan.
They are also to identify root causes of conflicts and recommend possible ways of addressing them, and work with all the peace actors in the area.
The committee is also tasked with coordinating and reporting to both the State Peace Committee and the Office of the Governor.
The team has to find its own funds for peace and reconciliation meetings and mobilize the youth to take development work instead of cattle raiding.
